Fine alloy metalwork Chinese brazier; antique Asian handwarmer in well-loved and lovely condition. Unknown provenance – possibly Qing Dynasty (possibly c.1900), possibly paktong. Hinged handle and pierced cover. Some of the holes in the lid are star-shaped, while others are round, others teardrops. They seem to create clusters of plum blossoms. A pleasing, symmetrical design at the center of the lid, possibly a Chinese character. Brass-colored. Shows age and signs of use, including patina and burn marks. No maker’s mark observed.
